Little Connor has had health issues since shortly after he was born. He is unable to swallow a majority of the time because his swallowing reflexes and all autonomic reflexes controlled by his brain stem are failing. He has already had one brain surgery for Chiari Syndrome which causes pressure on his brain stem and now needs another surgery to fuse his spinal cord to his skull because his spinal cord is growing up into his head. The doctors didn’t see this secondary problem before performing the surgery for his Chiari and now his head is even less stable! As you can imagine, there is some urgency for Connor to have this second surgery as soon as possible. The only doctor that has ever performed this surgery is in New York City and has only performed this same operation one other time. Connor’s family will need to stay in the city for 6-8 weeks while he is recovering and unfortunately, resources like the Ronald McDonald House are not an option because Connor also has two siblings, and Charlee is just 4 months old and needs to stay with her mother during Connor’s recovery. Siblings are not allowed to stay in the Ronald McDonald House. Through the hospital, Connor’s family can stay at an extended stay facility but it is still $125.00 a night! Connor’s family needs $5,250.00 to $7,000.00 just to stay in the city while he recovers! This doesn’t include food and transportation and transportation for follow-up visits.
This little boy has such an amazing smile and happy demeanor; on his good days you would never know the amount of pain he feels on his bad days.
On September 28th, beginning at 5pm, the Red Barn at 455 Riverside Drive in Augusta, Maine will be hosting a spaghetti dinner and auction to raise money for Connor’s trips to New York City. A donation of $7.00 or $25.00 per family is requested. Spaghetti, salad, and beverages will all be included! If you would like to donate an item for the auction, please email Alicia at email@example.com. If you would like to make an online donation, a Gofundme account “Connor is a Warrior” has been created by Connor’s mom, Erika.
Please invite anyone you know to the Facebook event who might be able to attend on September 28th to show their support for little Connor!

On the evening of July 16th, there was a catastrophic fire in Downtown Gardiner. At least one building was destroyed and many others were affected including many local businesses that have to remain closed during the demolition and clean up.
Currently many other local businesses are rallying to help our friends and neighbors recover from this devastating loss!
A Gofundme account has been set up by the United Way of Kennebec Valley here: Relief for Gardiner Fire Victims and Lisa’s Legit Burritos is holding a raffle to help raise money for the victims.
We will add more as we receive confirmation of fundraisers.
